04 Jun, 2023

Today, by the grace of God, the installation, calibration, and commissioning of the two-dimensional panoramic radiography unit (ACTEON) were successfully completed by the supplying company. The device was subsequently tested through imaging a number of patients attending the college clinics to ensure its optimal performance and diagnostic accuracy.

Device Overview

Panoramic radiography, also referred to as panoramic X-ray imaging, is a two-dimensional radiographic technique that provides a comprehensive image of the oral and maxillofacial region in a single exposure. It encompasses the maxilla, mandible, dentition, temporomandibular joints, and surrounding anatomical structures, thereby offering a broad diagnostic view of the oral cavity.

Clinical Applications of Panoramic Radiography

Panoramic radiography is a routinely utilized diagnostic modality in dental and oral and maxillofacial practice. It plays a crucial role in the assessment of maxillary sinuses, evaluation of tooth eruption and positioning, detection of jaw bone pathologies and abnormalities, and identification of impacted or supernumerary teeth. Furthermore, panoramic imaging is indispensable in comprehensive treatment planning, particularly for complete and partial denture fabrication, orthodontic treatment, surgical extractions, and dental implant placement.
